Christmas Presents!!!

First time in my life, i received such expensive present for my Christmas. And not only 1 but 3 from my beloved and lovely 茹.
Although there were some happenings which leads to misunderstanding and makes me have some annoying feelings before actually receiving the presents, i hereby wanna apologize and also thanks to my wife.(also cannot blame all to me hor, as your cover up is too lame!hahaha..)

Hope next year im still able to celebrate this special occasion with you as we do not know if the Prophecy of 21122012 is true or fake. if we are still alive, may we celebrate it year after year.. Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas Dinner @ White Dog Cafe, Vivo

When we are planning where to have our christmas dinner, my bro suggested White Dog cafe which he thinks that the food is not bad and the beer is cheap. When i heard about it, i really STRONGLY against this suggestion as previously i had a very bad experience with the food they serve(can check my previous thread).Anyway, you can see, i objection was no use and we still dine at that restaurant.

Reached da restaurant, we were told that the promotion price for Erdinger Beer was lifted up due Christmas from $5.50 per pint to $8.80. Although it is still cheap but felt a bit cheated as previously when we book da place, we ere told that the price will remain. Anyway, we were thr already, what can we do?

We enjoyed our dinner from each others company. Although the food has improved from the previous bad experience(the manager also agreed that the previous food is BAD when my bro told him my feedback, he said that the previous cook was fired!), BUT i still thinking there is a lot of improvement can be done.

Merry Christmas!

This is my second year celebrating Christmas at my company. This year i did not join the christmas gift exchange event as last year the gift that i received is still nicely wrapped in my drawer(an UGLY iphone4 casing and some chocs. the chocolates already finished eating.. mostly by my coll.. haha).

This year everyone was given a pack of KFC(SG KFC really sucks!!! put aside that the chicken and burger already cold, the taste is really not good compared to those in Msia. why why.. same name but tasted so different.)for our christmas high tea.

and besides that, my CEO also presented us with a box of Chocolate which is specially made for our company.

The presentation of this gift is quite nice but wat i think better to take the money of this gift and add into the christmas high tea will be better. haha.. so we can have better food rather then KFC.. kekekek.. a lot of complaint hor.. wahahhaa..

茹's Christmas gift by her coll. A GingerBread House from Marriot which cost about $60++..hmmm..said to be able to stand up to 1 year for deco.haha.. do you dare to eat sumthing that can last so long? anyway, her coll said da taste is not so nice and just for deco. i think better to take da money to have a nice meal better than buying this "biscuit"..anyway, after she got this gift, im still quite suprise that.. ohh.. there somthing like that out thr..

So fast its another year already.. last year i still remember at this day im busying oting.. today im also oting but just able to escape on time to get some glutinous balls for this special day for a special person. hiak hiak..

Laksa by Chef Danny - ViN

Oppss.. Chef Danny was caught on act.. haha.. this picture was taken when he was preparing some ingredients for da laksa..

actually not hard to prepare a laksa and just some fundamentals ingredients are needed lo..
first of all, tau pok! this is da most important..maybe some fishball or fishcakes

next came the prawns..

mayb you will think.. eh, y thr issit any siham? hmm..we are not so keen in cockles, so it is leftout. actually there are a lot of other items that can be added in such as beancurd, "五香" fishcakes, beancurd skin(which i like but is not prepared), sotong... a lot la..

preparing da laksa soup actually is not hard liau lo..just buy an instant ingredients packet(1 packet for 2 servings although it stated 1 packet equivalent to 4servings) and adding in some coconut milk, then throw all da other ingredients in.. then da laksa is done! simple right.. say simple la.. but when do.. hahaha..

hmmm.. this time, as it is the first time da chef cook laksa, by using 1 packet, he cooked for 4 person, so a little bit not enough taste la.. it will be better next time..

云吞面 @ Restaurant Chin Chin, Skudai - ViN

in sg, if say wantanmee, i think pontian wantanmee is quite famous but if wanna ask me to point out which wantanmee in jb is nice, i really will scratch my head.. two weeks ago, as 茹's frens having their wedding registration at Skudai's 天后宫, got da chance to stop by this shop to taste the so called nice wantanmee which i heard quite some time ago.
there quite a crowd in da shop and when 茹 asked me, which type do you wan? black or white? chilli or none? when heard this few question, first thing that came into my mind, issit pontian noodles or bp ahsi wantanmee.. how come nice noodles always has the same pattern of cooking? hahaha..

when it is served, they really looks alike lo.. i mean compared to pontian and ahsi. when my tongue tasted it.. hmmm.. issit ahsi open a branch here? hahaha.. we ordered da white with chilli and a black whithout chilli..

wat i can say is, their recipe really tasted alike with ahsi wantanmee from bp which i always eat since 27years ago.. haha..
thumbs up for this shop.. nice nice..oh by da way, da shop is located very near to Skudai MPJB or if you know where is 天后宫 its just in front of it.

A 玩豆腐 lunch..by ViN

since a few weeks ago, she keep planning to cook sumthing for me but everytime sumthing popup and the plan needs to be changed. Finally, today she was able to achieve wat she planned.

When to ShengSiong in da morning to get all the needed stuffs.. etc meat, vege... Total damage approx $20. Then back home and start preparing. im also in da kitchen helping.. wahhh.. i think almost 4 years nvr really cook or help out in da kitchen.. wahahhaa.. the first thing i did already wrong.. we bought 6 potatoes and actually do not need to use all of them but i didnt ask and eventually peel all off them.. she was speechless.. wahahha.. when the wok is on da stove, i felt so funnie and wanted to tease her again by saying.."hey do u need to stand on da wooden stairs?".. zinggg.. an arrow flew out from her eyes.. hahah.. anyway, when she started cooking, hmmm.. "still got 1 hand" lo.. the way she cook seems quite expert la.. Kim M Long princess really know how to cook lo.. anyway, after 1hr all da dishes were cooked.. i think she is quite nervous as i said i wont give face and the level of expectation will be higher than normal lo.. hiak hiak..

ok, too much cock! the winner of da lunch goes to da sweet corn soup! very very sweet ooo.. got mum's 味道. hahaha.. cook too much and till dinner we still have a big bowl.

second goes to soya souce chicken with potatoes. in da process of cooking, da gravy really tasted very nice but when it was served, too bad the gravy was all absorbed by the potatoes.. although da potatoes tasted even nicer but eating too much of them makes me felt very 恶心．i know in da picture it seems that you cant see any chicken right? Yala yala.. my fault.. anyway, da whole dish tasted great too..

last but not least, da vege.. a little bit too raw.. the taste of the green vege makes me think back of my high school time whr my mum always eat raw vege.. so to me, raw a little is nothing to complaint about.. i still eat a lot ya..

all and all..wanna thanks to my wife, 茹 to take all the trouble to cook for me. throughout this few months, the things u done, all were well kept in my heart..(dun say i too mushy la, if dun say nice things, then next time no more nice food to eat la.. wahahahhaha.. oppsss.. 没有啦，老婆。。哈哈）

Chinatown Food Court

hmmm.. actually i do not know what this foodcourt is called but should be quite easy to find as it is just behind Chinatown OG. hmmm.. it seems that the last visit to this place is 5 years ago? yeah.. i did not type wrongly.. 5 years ago when i just started to work in SG.
still remember that nite when back from msia, my bro passed by this place and told me that the Hokkian Prawn Noodles was quite nice and it really tasted that way during that time.. hahaa.. by reading this you should know that im going to condemn their noodles now.. hahahahha..

last weekend when meetup my frens at this foodcourt, i do not need to think wat im going to eat and i straight order their food.. when i got my dish, eh how come it looks not so nice de.. tasted it.. yewwww.. is this da same stall i ordered previously? its such a dissapointment lo..

i forgot if the person who cooks is still da same but can diffinately confirm the grade drops 100%.. hahaha.. too bad..

茹ordered a chicken wing+watercress soup set.. from da looks, the chicken wing was really tempting. i got to taste it, and how i wish i ordered this dish rather than my prawny noodles!hahhaa.. not bad not bad.. da soup also tasted good too!

We scratched our head to think what to have for our dinner after long hours of Xmas gift shopping. Finally we decided to have this Taiwanese 小吃 and we ordered their 蚵仔面线，鲁肉饭，炸鸡排! A gentle reminder to you, this stall is quite small and they only offer 5 seats in total. Before we sit in, the seats were already occupied by 4 person so my pity Vin had to stand throughout the dinner, kesiannya...

The 鲁肉饭 was accompanied with half of the full boiled egg and also the preserved cucumber. I found that the taste was ok and the preserved cucumber was matched well with the main role -鲁肉.. it neutralized the salty taste of the sauce and won't feel 腻 after finished it all .. Vin liked this as well, I would say this was the best among 3 of the dishes we ordered lol

You may find this is funny but both of us dont like the 蚵仔 so we requested to change to sliced chicken instead, haha! When this dish was served on our table, Vin shouted: arrr, they put black vinegar in it!!!! OMG, I hate the taste of black vinegar as well (except it was the best if cook 猪脚醋）... Luckily I still managed to dig out most of it from the serving, hehe! Well, both of us did not really like this as the 面线 was overcooked and the 口感 was not so good! Besides, the taste was a bit weird cos it tasted salty, sour (black vinegar leftover) and also spicy (the chili they put in).. Personally I think 士林 do better job

Another disappointment, the chicken was not marinated well and I felt that the chiken was not really crispy and hot! hmm, we both dont like this too!! OUT!

In conclusion, I will never visit them again hahahahaha

Western Food @ 味小宝 by 茹

After trying the chicken chop with blackpepper sauce at 味小宝，I got the urge to try the chicken chop with the mushroom sauce. So I told Vin I would like to have dinner there after work... hehe...

When the chicken chop was served, I was a bit disappointed because the sauce is in white creamy color, unlike the normal mushroom sauce which is in dark chocolate color.. and where was my favourite sliced mushroom??? huhu... After trying it, I just realized that the chef was using the mushroom soup as the sauce, not specially cooked one..OH NO, a big cross to it..However, the taste is still acceptable but I just don't like the chicken chop match with the normal mushroom soup..hmm...

In comparison, the chicken chop with blackpepper sauce is still the best ..haha!! anyway, Vin said he wants to try their Aglio Olio and chicken soup with mashed potatoes next time haha

Korean Jumbo Hotdog @ The Galerie, Marina Square

Not sure why, the older i am, the more im craving for hotdogs.. hahaha.. i dont mean those normal small hotdogs that we buy at the supermarkets, i like those BIG hotdogs. wahahahhaa.. seems very funny to say like that but pls dun think yy la.. wahahaha..
had my dinner at the galerie, the this stall is situated just in front of the escalator when we reached the foodcourt. after have my dinner, i excused myself from 茹, and when over to the stall to order 2 jumbo dogdogs.. wahahha.. a chick and a bull.. wahahaha.. hmmm.. actually i also not sure which is which as it tasted same to me.. but wat i can say is.. ust normal la.. quite dissapointed.. those sold at takashimaya food stall tasted better lo..

Chin Lee Restaurant @ Bedok

Since a few years ago when my bro just moved to Bedok, i oledi long heard about this restaurant as being told that their food is not bad. They normally called it as red lantern restaurant as there are a lot of red lantern hanging outside the restaurant.
After such a long period, finally i step into this restaurant not to order their specialties, but only their HK Noodles and Fried Kuey Tiau.

Reading through a lot of reviews, most of them said its a must to try their 菜香河粉.so i also do not need to think much, the first dish i ordered is that and the other dish 茹 just simply chose.

菜香河粉

From da looks, it really seems specials BUT da portion is a little too small for me. hmmm.. $6 for such a dish.. seems too expensive. Anyway, da taste i really not bad to me but my lady said its just OK.

HK Noodles

hmmm.. that day, 茹 and my tongue seems to have different grading..hahaha.. i just think that, its quite a normal dish but to her she said much better than the 菜香河粉. anyway, still not too bad la..

mayb can back to try their other dishes BUT this restaurant seems to be abit "atas".. so need to save some $$$ in order to try their dish.. hahaha..

初恋这件小事

Recently just watched a very nice movie which titled, "You are the apple of my eye" or in chinese, 那些年我们一起追的女孩. A movie that makes us think back what we have done during our high school time. Hmmm.. Although im not from chinese high, but it still some sort related lo.. but i can be sure we r not to the extreame to do "sumthing" behind da class when the teacher is teaching lo.. hahaha.. i think i do not need to intro much of this movie as the reviews can be widely seen from the net and mostly i think rated it as full star movie. By the way, the song for this movie, 那些年, i love it sooo much...

Yesterday just got to see another movie which is some sort like it but it is produced from THAILAND! the title is 初恋这件小事. it is not a recent movie but i like the story very much! although im poor in chinese(as the subtitle is chinese), i still can understand wats being conveyed through the movie(some of them still being translated by 茹) and it is very funnie tooo.. the actress is pretty and da actor is wasehhh.. more handsem than me lo.. wahahahahha...overall i still rate it full marks and i really recommend everyone to watch it. you can watch it easily through youtube and the quality is quite good.
