Before i start to intro the dishes from this shop, would like to make it clear that the marks that i give will be fair as this shop is managed by 茹's family. Its my first time offically have a meal in this shop as its da first time i pay to have the meal here..haha..paiseh paiseh..
Pi Pa Duck(Lute Duck?) is the shop's specialty. If you visited this shop but didnt order this dish, then i can categorised u as nvr visited them b4.. Please come again..haha.. i think most customer came here for their duck. the duck's skin is very very crispy and its meat is quite tender too. the taste of the souce is really superb and it really able to blend with the duck taste to make it superb tasty. its a super hard to make dish.. so what i can say is, die die must eat. once i ate a piece just directly out from da hot steamy wok, that small piece is super duper crispy and juicy(oily)..haha.. dun care.. i like it so much!
Next i would like to intro another dish which i highly recomend, da Claypot Bacon with Salted Fish. da way they make it is some sort like gong bao but with da taste of da salted fish makes da whole dish tasted differently. actually, if im given only this dish, i already can eat two bowls of rice.. haha.. Pls do not miss this dish..
HongKong Style Steam fish was also not bad. The most important thing is da souce that they mixed. Although it is not the best that i have tasted, but it is already counted very nice. Im not good in eating fish but from one of my fren's comment,hmmm.. it is a little bit over steamed which makes da meat not so soft.. to me its still acceptable as im not a fish eating specialist. Again, most important is da souce.. i drank it like soup.. hahaha..
Beancurd is always my favourite. Their Hometown Beancurd(家乡豆腐) is another dish that i voted for. The way they presented this dish already mesmerised me and the smell..hmmm.. very nice. It tasted bery good.. i think its my first time eating this dish.. high recommmended..
Salted egg yoke pork ribs.. The smell and the color is really attactive. this dish was placed right in front of me, and it makes my saliva drooling once i saw it.. it is really a not bad dish but i have a little feedback on it. although if u taste the yolk itself its quite good but when eat together with the spare ribs a little bit lack of taste(在够味一点会更好). hmm.. i dunno how to cook, but i ever tasted da same dish that the salted yolk smell is really strong even with the ribs. i dont actually remember whr i tasted this dish but i still remember da taste.. Out of da topic a while, at sg i da salted egg yolk pumpkin at Streets@IMM, its really superb.
How come no vege? hehehe.. i like to be carnivore..hiak hiak.. Kailan with Fried Beancurd Skin. My opinion, this dish to me is a little bit bland. Mayb i always like my dish a little bit more 重口味.. as my other frens said da taste is just nice. Anyway, again fried beancurd skin is my favourite. hahaha.. yum yum
Fried lettuce. Nothing much to complaint. I only can say its a quite normal dish. 简单就是好.
Bittergourd soup. its not their specialty but its not bad la..
Thr are 7 of us having lunch at this place. 7 bowls of rice, 7 drinks, 4 desserts and with all the 8 dishes above, it cost us only about RM135. Cheap right? Yes, im writing this to help to promote their dishes and also would like to share their nice food to others. Hmm.. if you go to da shop tell them my name.. i can confirm u wont get any discount.. so dun try your luck.. hahahaha..
Just a gentle reminder, there are two Kim Long Restaurant in Senai and the shop im refering to is located at the new row of shoplots at Senai which is opposite Senai Graveyard. If you are coming from JB, the shop will be located at your right but in order to reach this shop, you need to make a U-turn which is quite far in front from da shop. if you are a food lover, travel a little bit further to get to da shop is it worth it? Judge it by urself! And if you r trying to visit them during weekends, pls be prepared to wait, as thr are a lot of fans like me swarming to their shop.. hehe..
before i end this review, would like to intro a little about da main chef of this restaurant. he is 茹's younger brother and he is only 23 years old. all da nice dishes are cooked by him and one thing good about him is he likes to get feedback from customers so that he can improve his cookings. pls give room of improvement to this young little chap as i believe one day, his cookings will be well known not only in Senai, JB and SG..some say Batam too.. hahahaha..
